TEC Approval

Evolution of the Telecom Industry

Since the early 2000s, the telecommunications industry has experienced rapid liberalization and technological innovation. Companies within this sector facilitate the global exchange of data in various forms, including voice, audio, and video. The telecom industry comprises three primary sub-sectors: telecom equipment, telecom services, and wireless communication.

Historical Background

The origins of telecommunications trace back to the 1830s with the invention of the mechanical gadget known as the Telegraph. Over time, advancements in technology propelled the evolution of the telecommunications sector. Recognizing the importance of maintaining progress in this field, the government of India established the Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) in 1991. The TEC was tasked with developing standards for the telecommunications sector to ensure the establishment of world-class networks and seamless connectivity across individual networks.

TEC Certification

In order to import, manufacture, or sell telecom equipment, dealers are required to obtain a TEC certificate. This certificate is issued by the Telecommunication Engineering Centre following testing under the Mandatory Testing and Certification of Telecom Equipment (MTCTE) scheme.

Upon completion of the TEC registration process, dealers are provided with a unique registration number. This number serves as the equipment's unique identifier and can be prominently displayed on the product. This certification assures customers of the equipment's authenticity and compliance with regulatory standards.

Role of Ornate Quality Services Private Limited

Ornate Quality Services Private Limited plays a pivotal role in facilitating the certification process for telecom equipment dealers. By offering comprehensive services, Ornate Quality Services assists dealers in obtaining TEC certification efficiently and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. With Ornate Quality Services, dealers can navigate the certification process with ease, enabling them to bring quality telecom equipment to market confidently.

TYPES OF TEC APPROVALS:
  1. Mandatory Testing and Certification of Telecom Equipment (MTCTE): Compulsory for telecom equipment sold or used in India, ensuring compliance with technical parameters and Essential Requirements (ERs).
  2. Interface Approval: Given to equipment interacting with standard network interfaces, ensuring seamless connectivity with other telecom systems.
  3. Service Provider Approval: Licenses for telecom service providers to operate in India, ensuring adherence to technical and regulatory requirements.
  4. Mobile Handset Approval: Approval for mobile handsets and smartphones, ensuring compliance with technical standards and consumer safety.
  5. Testing and Certifications for Specific Technologies: Certifications for specific telecom technologies like Optical Fiber Cables (OFC), GPON equipment, and IP-based devices.
  6. Generic Requirements (GR) and Interface Requirements (IR): Published technical specifications and standards for telecom equipment, mandatory for obtaining TEC approvals.
